Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team, focusing on the Northern Virginia area. The ideal candidate will have between 3 to 6 years of experience in relevant fields, such as HVAC controls, controls commissioning, and PLC programming. A technical school graduate or a holder of a four-year degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred. This position is 100% onsite with a one-year contract duration, and offers the potential to transition to a permanent role, with up to 10% travel required.
Responsibilities
Install and commission systems, ensuring all components are correctly integrated and functioning.
Perform regular maintenance and troubleshoot issues with system components.
Download, update, and verify the accuracy of software used in systems.
Calibrate and test HVAC systems and controls to ensure optimal performance.
Monitor system components for efficiency and safety, providing diagnostics and repairs as needed.
Stay in compliance with required company trainings.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in HVAC systems, electrical systems, and computer networking.
Previous experience in similar or related fields.
Relevant certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, or related technologies.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills for coordinating with other technicians and stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in commissioning or data center systems.
Certification in systems such as JCI, Honeywell, or Schneider.
Ability to work across electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
Proficiency in SQL, Java, and C++ programming languages.
Experience with Windows, BACnet, Modbus, and SCADA systems.
Nice to have: SCADA experience.
Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic and varies each day. Engineers will receive requests from customers to diagnose issues and provide solutions, with approval from both the client and the customer. The role involves working on construction sites and new base builds, requiring interaction with customers, thus necessitating strong soft skills and interpersonal abilities. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $50.00/hr.
