The Safety Officer ensures compliance with all DOL guidelines, Job Corps notices and bulletins, OSHA regulations, health and safety practices. Ensures that personal protective equipment is worn in the vocation areas to comply with appropriate OSHA standards. Serves as a positive role model for students by reinforcing safety practices and facilitates required Safety meetings. Advises the Center Director of any safety and health concerns. Conducts accident investigation as well as processes student accident and injury reports in full compliance with required regulations. Qualifications High School Graduate or equivalent. Prefer three to six months experience in a safety or work-related capacity. Certified CPR/First Aid facilitator or willingness to become a CPR/First Aid facilitator within the first 30 days of hire. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred. Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy. Additional Requirements Knowledge of safety procedures. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Ability to effectively relate to trainee population. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment and drive an automobile. In addition, an individual must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment.
