(SCADP) was established in 1972 in a grassroots effort by community volunteers seeking alternatives for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD). SCADP is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization providing residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment.

PAY RATE: $20.90 - $22.00 Per Hour

JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

The Domestic Violence Victim’s Advocate is responsible for promoting the program throughout the surrounding areas, supporting clients in need of crisis intervention methods in order to prepare individuals for further success. The DV Victim’s Advocate is an entry-level counselor, being supervised by an experienced counselor. The DV Victim’s Advocate works to empower individuals through a survivor-driven and strengths-focused approach, which helps participants to feel confident in their choices. Services also focus on aspects of social and emotional wellbeing as survivors are going through the housing placement process. Conducts community outreach to develop resources to support clients and their families. Part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides case management, housing referral, substance abuse referral, financial counseling and benefits services, as may be needed. This position is a mandated reporter for child abuse, as set forth in California Penal Code Section 11165.7.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides engagement, crisis stabilization, trauma-informed case management, and referral services for clients and their families
  • As a member of the program case management team, provides information referrals, crisis stabilization and intervention, and assistance or referrals as may be appropriate
    • Assists case managers in conducting the comprehensive screenings and assessments to collect functional, environmental, financial, employment, housing, educational, and health information, as appropriate, to develop an Individual Service Plan
    • Coordinates follow-up services with case management team; records all services provided
  • Assists program staff in integrating development strategies and other evidence-informed practices to provide a holistic service approach including providing life skills through “teachable” moments
    • Provide crisis intervention if needed, and make referrals to appropriate community resources
  • Participates in community outreach for program, represents VOALA at meetings of working groups specific to housing victims of domestic violence, attends Apartment and Relator Association meetings, develops community partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Victim’s counseling, crisis stabilization and referrals
  • Coordinates outreach efforts with Case Management team, supporting Case Management initiatives for clients served
  • Assists clients to meet goals set forth in case plan, through regular conferences and monitoring of progress towards agreed upon goals.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications

EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s degree, in social services or related field,
  • Or HS/GED and 6 months of Social Services case related experience.
  • Completion of 40-hour Domestic Violence certificate

EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 Months of Social Services case related experience,
  • OR Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Social Services related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience serving victims of domestic violence.
  • Bilingual in written and spoken English and Spanish
