Our Mission

The Children’s Home Counseling Services of Idaho is committed to providing exceptional mental health care services to the children we serve with understanding, compassion, and cherishing who they are. We are dedicated to breaking the stigma on mental health and making sure all children receive the proper treatment they need and deserve.

About CHS

Founded in 1908 as an orphanage by O.P. Christian with support from C.W. Moore and Governor Frank R. Gooding, the Children’s Home Society of Idaho has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of the community. In 1975, the organization expanded its mission to include outpatient mental health care, establishing what became known as Warm Springs Counseling Center—now, as of 2024, known as Children’s Home Counseling Services.

Over the years, our services have grown to include individual and family counseling, peer and support groups, school-based outreach, and community events in Boise, Meridian, and beyond. As Children’s Home Counseling Services, we remain committed to removing barriers and ensuring that every child has access to the care they need—regardless of their family’s financial situation or support network.

With the help of our generous donors and community partners, we continue to provide a safe, welcoming space where children and families can heal, grow, and thrive.

Most clients we treat are children who are considered “at-risk” due to their economic, physical, and/or emotional status. More than 80 percent of those treated at the center cannot pay or co-pay for services but still receive treatment.

Common conditions we treat include trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, bullying, self-esteem issues, eating disorders, bipolar disorders, and foster care placement, just to name a few.

Through our high standards of best practices and ethics in the therapy and other services we provide, our goal is to help our clients develop coping skills, relief of mental illness symptoms, and have the positive experiences necessary to succeed in education, at home, with their interpersonal relationships, and lead happy, healthy, productive lives.

As one of the founding and most experienced outpatient providers of behavioral health services in Idaho, Children’s Home Counseling Services of Idaho serves thousands of children and families every year.

We are looking for full-time therapists at our Meridian location.
