What you will do:

The Accounting Assistant is a key member of our Finance Team. This team provides fiscal support to the rest of the department including the management of all funds received and distributed to multiple entities. The Accounting Assistant performs a number of accounting activities including:
  • opening mail containing monies and preparing for processing and deposit;
  • recording revenue, making deposits, and balancing accounts;
  • reporting daily transactions;
  • documenting payments, processing errors, and corrections; and
  • operating office equipment including computers, scanners, check readers, and adding machines.
This position works closely with a team of Revenue employees to receive, process, and deposit tax revenues submitted to the Department.

Our ideal candidate will have the following knowledge and abilities:
  • basic accounting and financial principles;
  • check writing and recording;
  • computer program applications;
  • basic record keeping;
  • use a calculator and computer and learn applicable accounting software;
  • prioritize and complete work by established deadlines;
  • communicate sufficiently to answer questions and provide information about assigned work;
  • compare information and recognize discrepancies; and
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

This position is a full-time position with the Department of Revenue working 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.For more information on the Department of Revenue, please visit
